Co-Motion Dance Concert April 21-22

Date Posted: April 7, 2017 Author: Steve Reed

The Cottey-in-Motion (Co-Motion) Dance Company will present its spring concert on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts.

The program includes a ballet piece choreographed by Cottey alumna and adjunct lecturer Rebecca Whitsett with the theme of time. Student choreographers Tori Frazee, Susana Irigoyen, Rain Richards, Sierra Franklin, and Amy Jernigan have all created innovative and compelling works featuring members of the Cottey-in-Motion Dance Company and additional guest artist Cottey students. Guest artist Cottey alumna Kasey Milton, who is currently pursuing a B.A. in dance at Missouri Valley College, in Marshall, Missouri, is also featured. Faculty member Jo Byrnes has two works on the program, one representing human connections, with music by Prince, and one physicalizing the way one action or statement (or news story) can get individuals and a group stirred up.

The concert is free and no tickets are required.

The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
