The Tutoring Center provides free, drop-in peer-led tutoring sessions and professional tutoring (in limited subject areas) to promote proactive and independent student learning. Our peer tutors facilitate learning, model academic success, and promote positive study habits. The peer model reflects the student-centered nature of Cottey’s mission and fosters a collaborative learning environment through student-to-student interaction. It also offers a significant professional development opportunity to high-achieving undergraduate students.

Jessie is a fourth-year here at Cottey. She is currently majoring in Biology with an Anthropology minor. She is in the learning center student worker and also the tutor for Anthropology, Biology, Intro to Chemistry, Elementary Statistics, and College Algebra. She is in the learning center on Monday through Thursday from 6-9.

Tutoring Center French Tutor Peace is a fourth-year student at Cottey pursuing a degree in Health Sciences. Peace’s minors include French as well as Women, Gender and Sexuality studies. She is in the Tutoring Center on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7-8. Peace is excited to be tutoring in French and looks forward to sharing her cultural knowledge to those interested in the language and/or culture. À bientôt!
Cassie is a fourth-year student from North Dakota. She is currently majoring in Psychology and has an associate’s degree of Fine Arts. Cassie tutors for the class Introduction to Cultural Anthropology. She is in the Cottey College Learning Center on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm.
Sophie Weiss is a second year getting her associates of science at Cottey. She tutors for Calculus 1 Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 pm, and would love to help anyone who comes down! She is also on the Cross Country and Track team, so Go Comets!
Robin Coleman- Reading Specialist
Our Reading Specialist, Robin Coleman, is specifically trained to help students who are struggling with reading. If you struggle to stay focused while reading or cannot remember what you just read, Robin can assist you with reading strategies.
We have trained peer tutors who are available to work with students in specific subject areas. Schedules and content areas vary from semester to semester depending on peer tutors’ schedules.
