Workshop Reception (Friday, 5:30 – 7:30 PM): Hospitality Suite, Room TBA. This year the reception for the CMS workshop will be held Friday evening, April 4, followed by the workshop on Saturday, April 5. This reception is informal, so should you arrive at the Bourbon Orleans after 7:30 PM, don’t hesitate to stop by the Hospitality Suite to see who is still hanging around. This reception is open to all workshop participants.

Welcoming Reception for the 45th Annual Meeting of the CMS (Saturday, 6:00 – 8:00 PM): St. Mary Salon 1 & 2 and Courtyard. Normally the welcoming reception for the annual meeting is held Sunday evening before the opening of the technical program on Monday. Our unique partnering this year with the Geochemistry Division of the ACS means the technical program will open Sunday; hence, the welcoming reception will occur on Saturday this year. In some respects, this also serves as the closing reception for the workshop. How lucky can you get? Two receptions for a single workshop! This reception is open to all CMS and GEOC members and participants in the CMS/GEOC meeting.

Reception for First-time CMS Participants and Students (Sunday, 5:30 – 7:30 PM): St. Ann Salon 1 and small courtyard. If this is your first Clay Minerals Society meeting, or you are a student (or both), please join us for an informal reception after the opening day of the technical sessions.

Editors’ Dinner (Monday, 6:00 – 8:00 PM): Snooks Jazz and Blues Bar / Bourbon Orleans. (By invitation)

Sustaining Members’ Breakfast (Tuesday, 6:30 – 8:00 AM): Small room in Snooks / Bourbon Orleans. (By invitation)

CMS Banquet Reception (Tuesday, 6:00 – 7:00 PM) and Banquet (7:00 – 9:00 PM): Second-Floor Ballroom. Please join us for our annual celebration of the Clay Minerals Society. There will be good food and beverages, and not too much talking from the head table. Tickets are available for $40 through the ACS registration site.

Past-Presidents’ Dinner (Wednesday, 7:00 – 9:00 PM): Paillard’s/Bourbon Orleans. (By invitation)

Reynold’s Cup Award (Thursday, 11:40 AM – 12:30 PM): Morial Convention Center, Room 212. The Reynold’s Cup is a biennial competition on the quantification of clay-bearing artificial rocks. Competition and Sample Overview: 11:40 AM – 12:00 PM. Award Ceremony: 12:00 – 12:30 PM.
