Registrar

Cottey College, a leading private liberal arts and sciences college for women, seeks a registrar to begin July 1, 2018. Reporting to the VPAA, the successful candidate will provide leadership and vision needed for planning, organizing and directing all functional areas of the Office of Academic Records, including the management and maintenance of student academic records and degree audit services, enrollment support services, and all registration services and related matters. Controller

Cottey College is seeking a full-time Controller in our business office located in Nevada, Missouri.
Reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Finance, this position performs a wide range of difficult-to-complex administrative activities related to maintaining the accounting systems and records to assure financial reporting integrity; implementation and monitoring of the budget; preparation of financial reports and statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles; and oversight for payroll, accounts payable, general accounting, auditing, and accounts receivable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in accounting or business administration. MBA and/or CPA certification preferred.
  • Four years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit and/or college and university finance department.
  • Two years in a supervisory capacity.

Coordinator and Assistant/Associate Professor of Secondary Education

Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences college for women, invites applications for a program coordinator/faculty member in Secondary Education. The ideal candidate will be one who is an excellent teacher and interested in teacher education. She/he will teach at least two core foundational teacher education courses at the undergraduate level each semester; advise and mentor undergraduate students majoring in education; coordinate and supervise student teachers; continue to develop our teacher education program; participate in faculty governance and meaningful college service and scholarly activities; collaborate with colleagues to conduct program/course planning and revision, and assist with recruitment efforts at Cottey. As enrollment grows in secondary education, additional faculty members will be hired.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in education: curriculum and instruction or equivalent/related field from an accredited institution. ABD may be considered.
  • Five or more years of successful teaching experience in grades 9-12.
  • Experience with pre-service teachers as cooperating teacher and/or faculty supervisor.
  • Understanding of curriculum standards, planning, and implementation at the secondary levels.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of current best teaching and educator preparation
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field.
  • Demonstrated experience using current educational technology in the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in education profession, including involvement with K-12 partnerships, collaboration and community outreach, and STEM/STEAM initiatives.
  • In-depth understanding of current state and national teacher education issues and research.
  • Three or more years of successful experience mentoring new teachers and/or serving as cooperating teacher for pre-service teachers.
  • Experience teaching education courses in higher education.
  • Possess a current Missouri state career teaching license.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach at least two education courses each semester.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students majoring in education.
  • Continue to develop Cottey’s Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approved teacher education program that aligns with the guidelines as set forth by DESE as stated in the Missouri Standards for the Preparation of Educators (MoSPE).
  • Serve as the Certification Officer of Cottey College and oversee the certification process of completers of the educator preparation program.
  • Collect and manage data needed for Missouri’s Annual Progress Report of Educator Preparation Programs (APR-EPP) and the Title II Report.
  • Complete and submit the APR-EPP and Title II Report in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Place, supervise, and assess pre-service teachers. Assist pre-service teachers in the completion of the Missouri Pre-Service Teacher Assessment (MoPTA).
  • Monitor students’ progress through the Education Preparation Program application process, transition points and testing, and completion of all program requirements.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts for the Secondary Education Program.
  • Serve as the faculty advisor for a student educator professional organization such as S-MSTA or S-MNEA.
  • Attend professional development opportunities such as the spring and fall conferences of the Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Criminology

Cottey College, a leading private liberal arts and sciences college for women, seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Criminology, starting August 2018. Assistant Professor of Biology

Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences institution for women, invites applications for a tenure-track position in biology, to start August 2018. We are seeking an innovative instructor who will teach courses both in our introductory biology series and in some combination of ecology, evolution, zoology, or botany, as well as make use of the college’s field station, located 8 blocks south of the main campus. Teaching load is 12-14 hours a semester, typically 24 hours a year, and faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly activities and assist with recruitment efforts. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in biology and should demonstrate a strong interest in undergraduate teaching and a willingness to mentor undergraduates involved in scholarly activities such as independent research. The candidate should have a desire to participate in the growth and development of the biology program as well as work with an interdisciplinary scholarly community. Post-doctoral experience is preferred, but not required.

Head Tennis Coach

Cottey College is seeking a head tennis coach for its inaugural season of competition during the 2018-2019 school year. Assistant Softball Coach

Cottey College is seeking an assistant Softball Coach. This position reports to the head coach, the athletic director, and the vice president for student life. Under general direction of the Head Coach, performs a wide range of difficult-to-complex coaching and administrative activities related to the development and implementation of a competitive collegiate program. This includes, but is not limited to assisting the head coach in all phases of the program in compliance with the mission of the college and the NJCAA rules and regulations. Effective communication skills include handling emotional situations well along with more traditional skills such as word processing, computer skills, financial aptitude, and the ability to work well with both internal and external constituents. Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Administration, or related fields from an accredited college or university and three years’ softball coaching experience and recruiting are required. Half Time Hall Director

Cottey College is searching for a half-time female hall director. Any combination of education and experience providing skills and knowledge needed for performance of required duties will be considered. Listed are the minimum qualifications necessary for this position:

International Education Coordinator

Position Summary

Cottey College seeks a full-time coordinator for international education. Duties include providing support for study abroad and faculty exchange programs as well as providing support for international students in their transition to Cottey and the U.S. This is a twelve-month position, reporting to the vice president for academic affairs.

  • Provides international student support

  • Assists with planning of the annual Multicultural Festival
  • Assists in the development of a departmental budget and maintains fiscal responsibility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) with 1-2 years related experience
  • Eligible to serve as PDSO for the college
  • Experience with educating and informing international students about CPT and OPT requirements
  • Ability to manage SEVIS and visa requirements for matriculated international students

Database Manager

Cottey College is looking for a Database Manager in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Position is responsible for a variety of complex and routine functions in support of Cottey College fundraising initiatives and will manage the department’s data analysis and reporting needs. Maintenance Technician

Full-time, 12 month position. Skilled and semiskilled work in maintenance and repair of general equipment, plumbing, communications, heating and cooling systems, security control and electrical distribution systems.
