Assistant Professor of Art

Cottey College, a small liberal arts and sciences college for women, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in art, beginning August 2019.

The successful candidate will hold an MFA in Ceramics or related field; have the ability to teach Ceramics, Sculpture, 2D & 3D Design, and Art Appreciation; be professionally active with a substantial national/international exhibition record; and demonstrate technical and conceptual ability in their own work. Preferred qualifications include college level teaching experience beyond TA; proficiency in the theories and fundamentals of Ceramics, Sculpture, and Foundations; and a strong working knowledge of traditional Ceramics methods and techniques such as glaze-mixing, wheel throwing, kiln firing (gas, electric, raku), hand-building, mold-making, and slip-casting. In addition, the candidate should possess a strong working knowledge of sculptural methods and techniques as well as an understanding and passion for women’s education. Responsibilities beyond teaching include academic advising, service to the college, budget management, ceramics studio management, and kiln maintenance and repair.

Executive Director of Marketing and Communications

Cottey College invites applications for an exective director of marketing and communications. Candidates must have skills in marketing technology to promote the College’s visibility. Duties include, but are not limited to, directing all aspects of the College’s central communication efforts, including marketing, media relations, public information, online and digital communication.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher required with 5 or more years in Marketing required. Three or more years of experience in higher education communication management, preferred.

Assistant Professor of Biology

Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences institution for women, invites applications for a tenure-track position in biology, to start August 2019. We are seeking an innovative instructor to teach undergraduate courses ranging from introductory to capstone-level. We especially welcome applicants capable of teaching courses in genetics, molecular biology, and anatomy and physiology. The successful candidate will be a broadly-trained biologist and should demonstrate a strong interest in undergraduate teaching and a willingness to mentor undergraduates involved in scholarly activities such as independent research. The candidate should have a desire to participate in the growth and development of the biology program as well as work with an interdisciplinary scholarly community. A Ph.D. in biology is required. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Additional duties will include recruitment, advising, and service to the college. Course load is typically 24 contact hours per academic year.

Assistant Professor of English

Cottey College, a small liberal arts and sciences college for women, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in composition and rhetoric, starting August 2019. Teaching load typically includes four courses each semester, including first-year writing courses; each composition class is typically capped at 15. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in college teaching and a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric (ABD with firm defense date considered). We are looking for individuals who can lead and teach in our first-year writing program. Ability to contribute to our writing minor and teach creative writing courses preferred. College Math Tutor

Cottey College, a leading private liberal arts and sciences college for women in Nevada, Missouri, invites applications for a part-time professional math tutor to serve two evenings a week in Cottey’s on-campus Learning Center. Duties include one-on-one and small group tutoring in mathematical subjects at a college level for both Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters, averaging five to eight evening hours per week while classes are in session. Candidates must be well versed in College Algebra and Calc I, with Calc II, III, and Stats a plus. Preference will be given to those who hold bachelor’s degrees or above in mathematics or a related field.
