Kolderie Academic Assistance Center

Welcome to the AAC!

Mission Statement:

The Kolderie Academic Assistance Center (AAC) is a multifaceted, student-centered learning environment under the auspices of the Office for Academic Affairs. The mission of the AAC is to provide activities, information, resources, and services for our students to assist them in meeting their needs relative to academic progress and success, career development, career-related experiences, and transfer.

Services and Resources:

Academic Advising: Coordinate the faculty-based academic advising program, including initial assignment and change of advisors.

Career Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling to explore expectations, interests, motivations, personality preferences, skills, strengths, and values related to career goals.

Career Lab: Provide software for major selection, college search, and employment search.

Career Library: Provide books on careers, employment, graduate school, and scholarships as well as a collection of college catalogs from across the nation.

Education Courses: Coordinate the registration of students into pre-professional education courses offered by Crowder College at the Nevada campus.

Educational Games: Provide the opportunity for students to learn valuable career skills by playing Career Odyssey, Interview Challenge, The Networking Game, or You're Hired!

Employment: Assist in the understanding of job market trends and employment forecasts as well as searching for full-time and part-time employment.

Experiential Learning: Develop opportunities for students to learn by doing. Match students with career-related, service-learning or volunteer opportunities.

Internships: Coordinate the Cottey College internship program as well as provide information on internships worldwide.

Interviewing: Present workshops and mock interviews as preparation for job and college interviews.

Learning Skills: Assist the student in determining her learning style, learning strengths and weaknesses and appropriate learning strategies and techniques.

Majors: Assist with the exploration and selection of appropriate majors to meet career goals.

Resume/Cover Letters: Conduct workshops and provide individual assistance to create professional resumes and cover letters.

Scholarships: Provide books, web links, and other materials to aid in scholarship searches for educational pursuits.

Standardized Tests: Provide test preparation materials for the ACT, SAT, TOEFL, GRE and GMAT.

Transfer: Help in selecting educational institutions and programs that will meet career goals as well as assisting the student in understanding the transfer process, and with the completion of applications.

Tutoring: Coordinate the placement of peer tutors. Professional tutors are available in Mathematics and Spanish.

Volunteering: Match students with opportunities for volunteering, record volunteer hours, coordinate volunteer activities.

Writing Center: Managed by the English Department, selected peer tutors offer assistance to students in the area of composition and grammar.
