SPRING BREAK 2014 London Itinerary

Sunday, March 9: Depart Kansas City, Missouri
Students and faculty will leave the Cottey campus by chartered bus and travel to Kansas City International Airport for an overnight flight to London aboard a major airline. There typically will be three different flights to accommodate the whole group.

Monday, March 10: Arrive in London
After check-in at the hotel, there will be a walking tour of London to acquaint you with the local tube travel, money exchanging, and other general information, which you will find useful while in London. You will enjoy panoramic views over the Thames from Parliament to St. Paul's. Continuing on to Trafalgar Square, you will end the walking tour at Leicester Square, center of the theater and cinema, or Covent Garden, a craft market and stage for street entertainers. The remainder of the day will be free to explore or rest.

Tuesday, March 11: Guided Sightseeing Bus Tour of London
The guided bus tour will depart from the front of your hotel at 9:00 a.m. The guided tour will take us to Parliament, St. Paul's Cathedral, and other sites representing London's 2,000-year history. The bus tour will end at Buckingham Palace. This tour may give you some insights as to where you will want to spend your free time exploring in more depth some of historic London. The bus tour will last approximately three hours and the remainder of the day is free time. Tuesday evening the faculty and staff will dine together at a local restaurant.

Wednesday, March 12: Faculty-Planned Educational Excursion Modules
Faculty participating in the London trip will be developing day/evening outings in which each student will have an opportunity to select excursions of her choice. Each student will be expected to participate in a minimum of two faculty planned educational modules, one on Wednesday and one on Friday.

Thursday, March 13: Excursion to Windsor and Evening Theatre Experience
At 9:00 a.m., the group will depart to the royal town of Windsor. The castle, constructed by William the Conqueror in 1070, has been a preferred royal retreat for the last 900 years. Outside the grounds of the castle, the town of Windsor offers a bustling mixture of both traditional and modern shops. The entire group will attend a major theatrical production. We will travel by bus to the theatre leaving the hotel at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Friday, March 14: Faculty-Planned Educational Excursion Modules
Each student will be expected to participate in a faculty planned educational module.

Saturday, March 15: Free Exploration Day with Evening Farewell Dinner Everyone has a final day to explore the city. We will gather that evening for a farewell dinner.

Sunday, March 16: Depart London
Buses will transport the Cottey group to the airport for the return flight to Kansas City. You will be informed of the departure time Saturday evening. Those students/faculty planning to stay the second week will be responsible for departure arrangements from the hotel.
