THE FANTASTICKS COMES TO COTTEY JAN. 31
Thursday, January 16, 2014
A Steampunk version of The Fantasticks comes to Cottey College on Friday, January 31, at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts.
The Fantasticks is the world’s longest-running production of any kind, and with good reason: it is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time. It is a moving tale of young lovers who become disillusioned, only to discover a more mature, meaningful love. This production will be performed as a Steampunk version. Steampunk is a genre which came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s and incorporates elements of science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, horror, and speculative fiction.
Tickets for The Fantasticks are $8 for adults and $6 for those under age 18 or over age 62. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.
Financial assistance for The Fantasticks has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
