COMETS HAVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK

For the second consecutive week, the Cottey College Comets have had a player named “Player of the Week” by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Last week, first-year guard Caley Shaffstall was honored as the top player in Division II for the week of February 10-16, and first-year player Casey Heger claimed the honor for the week of February 17-23.

Heger, a 6’2” forward from Webb City, Missouri, averaged 20.5 points and 14 rebounds in games against North Central Missouri College and St. Louis Community College. She also averaged two assists and three steals per game.

Shaffstall, a 5’9” guard from Kansas City, Missouri, averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in two games against Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley and Wentworth Military Academy.

The Comets begin Region XVI post-season play on Saturday, March 1, at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri.
