Cottey College’s P.E.O. Speaker Series is pleased to present the Reverend Dr. Soomee Kim who will speak on Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall inside the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. Her talk is titled “Inclusive Leadership: Storytelling, Story Listening.”
The Rev. Dr. Kim is a certified supervisor in the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church. She received her B.A. degree in psychology and teaching credentials from California State University, Los Angeles, and her M. Div. and D. Min. degrees from Claremont School of Theology. She brings a variety and depth of pastoral experiences to her presentations. She is a certified Spiritual Director and has received extensive training in diversity awareness by Kaleidoscope Institute, Los Angeles, California, and clergy misconduct by Center for the Prevention of Sexual and Domestic Violence, Seattle, Washington.
As a Community CPE Supervisor for the Midwest CPE Program in Kansas City, Missouri, Rev. Dr. Kim delivers Clinical Pastoral Orientations (CPO) for seminary students, lay persons, and ministry candidates. Groups are able to select from a variety of topics for one-time seminar or series presentations.
The Rev. Dr. Kim is a past recipient of the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE) Award. The PCE Award provides need-based grants to women in the United States and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families.
The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
