FACULTY
There are three faculty positions open at this time.
Chemistry (2)
Search expanded/multiple positions. Cottey College, a small, private, two-year, residential college for women seeks two faculty with enthusiasm for and commitment to undergraduate education and women's roles in the sciences to fill tenure-track positions beginning August 2008: (1) Organic chemistry (new search); (2) Chemistry other than organic (ongoing search). Duties include lecture and laboratory teaching, advising, and shared departmental responsibilities. Ph.D., teaching experience (full-time teaching experience for one position, T.A. experience possible for other position), and ability to work collaboratively required. Departmental offerings include introductory, general, organic (second-year majors), analytical chemistry, and undergraduate research. Laboratory facilities and technological resources are outstanding. Rank and salary to be determined according to background and experience. Review of new applications begins June 2 and continues until both positions are filled, or through July 15, whichever comes first. Cottey reserves the right to fill the positions on a one-year visiting professor basis if tenure-track candidates are not identified. Dance
Cottey College, a small, private, two-year residential college for women seeks a full-time tenure track assistant professor in dance for Fall 2008. Position includes teaching, advising, and departmental leadership responsibilities. Current curriculum includes a combination of theory, technique, and performance courses, including ballet, modern, jazz, improvisation, choreography, Dance Appreciation, Dance History, Creative Movement for Children, tap, and body conditioning. Also, oversight of all aspects of the Cottey Repertory Dance Company. Successful candidate must be committed to undergraduate teaching and women's education. MFA and collaborative work style required; teaching experience preferred. Located 90 miles south of Kansas City, Cottey College is positioned for growth. Recent curricular initiatives include an annual international study trip for all second-year students, service learning, internships, learning communities, leadership studies, and multicultural projects. Admission Representative
Cottey College is seeking an admission representative. Candidates must be enthusiastic and good communicators with a strong belief in the value of a women's college. Responsibilities focus on recruitment of prospective students. Candidates must possess excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, event-planning capabilities, enjoy travel, and have a sense of humor. Strong computer skills and experience with word-processing, spreadsheet and database software required. Position requires a bachelor’s degree. Previous work experience in admissions, marketing, or sales would be preferred. Cottey alumnae are encouraged to apply. Full-Time Residence Hall Director
Cottey College is seeking a female director for an all female student residence hall commencing July 2008. Responsibilities focus on establishing and maintaining a healthy living and learning environment for female students. This is a 12-month, full-time position with primary commitment during the academic year evenings and weekends. Some daytime hours needed. Position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and supervisory capabilities. Experience working with college students or adults desirable. Bachelor's degree preferred. Compensation package includes furnished one-bedroom apartment with utilities and cable and meals are provided while students are on campus. Full benefits.
