NATIVE AMERICAN MONTH CELEBRATIONS AT COTTEY

November is Native American Heritage Month, and Cottey College will host events to celebrate the month.

On Saturday, November 1, at 1 p.m., the Wichita, Kansas, Oyate Wanji One Nation Drum group will be performing, talking about Native American culture, and displaying Native American craft items. The group includes Cottey alumna Cathy Gillespie, Class of 1981. Weather permitting, they will perform near the peace pole garden just behind the Chapel. In case of inclement weather, they will move to the Chapel basement.

Cottey College's Blanche Skiff Ross Memorial Library will show two movies on Native American culture. On Wednesday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m., Four Sheets to the Wind will be shown. On Wednesday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m., Edge of America will run.

In addition, the Library will have displays of Native American craft items throughout the month.

The Library is located on the southeast corner of Austin and College streets in Nevada, Missouri.
