PAULA ALLEN TO PRESENT AT COTTEY COLLEGE NOV. 1

Cottey College will be hosting Paula Allen, noted photographer, on November 1, 2008, in the Missouri Recital Hall at 8 p.m.

Allen has been an "activist with a camera" who has concentrated on photographing women around the world in their courageous and often invisible confrontations with violence and oppression. From a "safe house" in Kenya to a village in Kosovo, Allen has documented women's determination in the pursuit of freedom, truth, and justice. Her work has been published in numerous magazines: The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, O: The Oprah Magazine, People, Marie Claire, and Glamour, among others. The Recital Hall is located in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
