JIM WIDNER BIG BAND TO PERFORM OCT. 17 AT COTTEY

Jim Widner will bring his Big Band to the Auditorium of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 17. The show will begin at 8 p.m.

Jim Widner, former bassist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, has performed with many nationally recognized artists and before former President Bill Clinton. A graduate of the University of Missouri and Memphis State University, he is currently artist-in-residence/coordinator of jazz studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In 1999, Mizzou students renamed the music wing of the fine arts residential college "Widner House" in honor of him. The Jim Widner Big Band has released several critically-acclaimed albums.

Tickets for Jim Widner Big Band are $6 for adults and $5 for those under age 18 or over age 62. Tickets will be available at the door the night of the show.

The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
