A Message From President Judy Rogers

Judy Robinson RogersI became the eleventh president of Cottey College on July 1, 2004. I moved to Nevada, Missouri, from Georgetown, Kentucky, and since that time I have been discovering Cottey. Of course, I knew certain information about the College from the search process and from the campus meetings, but I now know that one must actually experience this institution to know what it is really like. I am coming to understand Cottey’s spirit, Cottey’s beauty, and Cottey’s mission.

The spirit of Cottey is expressed through people--the students, faculty, staff, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood who support it. The students who came to the open forum to ask questions and meet a presidential candidate were bright, engaged, articulate, and eager to learn. In subsequent meetings with these young women, I also found they were inquisitive and confident. It is clear that their experience at Cottey, especially in the classroom, has empowered them. The faculty has taught and mentored them well. Like students and faculty, the Cottey staff are also dedicated and engaged. And it is clear to everyone in the College community that the love and support of the P.E.O. Sisterhood model the Cottey spirit and sustain the institution.

I encourage you to explore Cottey through the pages of our Web site. Even better, I encourage you to visit Cottey for yourself to discover the spirit of this wonderful college. I have enjoyed meeting the current students on this campus, and I would love the opportunity to meet you too.

Sincerely,
Judy R. Rogers, Ph.D.
President
