Professor Jo Byrnes
Jo Byrnes, B.S., M.F.A., assistant professor of dance
Jo Byrnes has undergraduate degrees in Computer Engineering Technology and Theatre with Dance Emphasis, both from Kansas State University, and an
M.F.A. degree in Dance and Related Arts from Texas Woman´s University. She has over 25 years of teaching experience in private studios, public
schools, and at the university level. She was a founding member and artistic director of a.musing.dance.company and the Instant Dance Project. She
has choreographed and performed with various companies and independent artists in the Dallas, Texas, and Boise, Idaho, areas. Jo has been a Teaching
Artist for the Idaho Commission on the Arts. She has recently presented at the conferences o the National Dance Association and the American College
Dance Festival. She is the director of the Cottey Repertory Dance Company and she also collaborates on some Cottey theater productions.
Courses taught at Cottey: Improvisation, Dance Appreciation, Dance History, Cottey Repertory Dance Company, Ballet, Modern, Jazz,
Choreography and Creative Movement for Children.
