Performance Opportunities
At the end of each semester all of the enrolled technique students present their finals in an Informal Dance Concert in the auditorium of The Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. Choreography students also present their final group works during the informal fall dance concert. The Cottey Repertory Dance Company (by audition) performs on campus during the spring semester in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. The dance company also tours to local elementary schools presenting lecture/demonstrations for children on occasion.
Creative Opportunities
Students enrolled in choreography classes compose short group dances as part of their course work. They present their pieces at the Informal Dance Concert during the fall semester.
Teaching Opportunities
The Creative Movement for Children course allows hands-on experience instructing elementary-age children from the community.
Work-Study Opportunity
One full-time position in dance (accompaniment/costume construction).
Scholarships
To apply for a scholarship in dance the applicant should submit a videotaped performance in her best style whether it be modern, jazz, or ballet. Solo work is preferred. If an applicant elects to submit a video tape of a group work, she needs to note how the committee can distinguish her from the other performers; i.e., color costume, performer front row center, soloist, etc. Applicants need to include a sheet listing the choreographer and titles of dances included on the video. The total time of the video should not exceed ten minutes. An applicant should also submit a sheet listing her performance experience and dance training. If an applicant wishes to audition in person, please email Professor Jo Byrnes to arrange a date and time prior to the videotape deadline.

On-Campus Performances and Exhibits
Students attending Cottey have the opportunity to attend approximately thirty performances each academic year. This includes performances by our music, theatre and dance students as well as guest speakers and performers contracted by the college as part of our Cottey Lecturers and Artists Series. The Conway Student Art Gallery, housed in the Rubie Burton Academic Center, exhibits student art work throughout the year. The P.E.O. Foundation Art Gallery, housed in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts, is used for special exhibits, traveling shows, and faculty exhibitions.
Off-Campus Performances
Opportunities to travel to Kansas City to attend dance performances are available through the dance department. Travel expenses are paid for by the College.
Dance Conferences
When possible, dance faculty offer students the opportunity to attend, at the student's expense (travel paid by the College) the American College Dance Festival Association Annual Conference.
