Dr. Mike Emery

Dr. Mike EmeryDr. Mike Emery, professor of English, received his B.A. from the University of Texas at El Paso (1976), and his M.A. (1979) and Ph.D. (1990) from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He was hired in 1989.

He teaches courses in freshman composition, creative writing, literature and film. The College's editor for the last two accreditation self-studies, he is active in campus assessment and library collection development.

Dr. Emery has been recognized by the College for his leadership in assessment. He was Teacher of the Year in 1991.

Prior to coming to Cottey, he taught English at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and SUNY-Binghamton. In 1977, he coordinated the Writing Room in the Study Skills and Tutorial Services Department at UT-El Paso.

Dr. Emery is on sabbatical for the spring 2008 term to work on a utopian novel.
