John Kendrick
Adjunct Lecturer in Journalism.
John Kendrick, adjunct professor of journalism and Spectrum advisor, has worked in the publications industry more than 20 years. He began
working in newspaper production as a reporter, and progressed through the newsroom ranks to editor and executive editor positions. He has also been
successful with a freelance career as a designer and creator in varying formats of document production. During his tenure as editor of the
Fort Scott Tribune, he was adviser to a high school publications department through the Business as Teachers program of Kansas State Department
of Education. He was awarded the role of Cottey adjunct instructor for journalism in December 2006, where he instructs students in news production
technique and oversees the publication of Cottey's award-winning student newspaper The Spectrum. He received his B.S. - Biology from Missouri
Southern State University, Joplin, and his M.A. - Communications from Pittsburg State University, Kansas (2009) where his work centered on social text
discourse in popular culture.
