The Retrospect Yearbook
The Cottey College Retrospect yearbook is sold to members of the Cottey community and provides students the opportunity to report on Cottey students, suites and activities. The publication provides a historic record of events and traditions on campus and is a keepsake for students long after they graduate.
Because Cottey is a two-year institution, our students graduate with experience usually reserved for juniors and seniors in journalism programs at larger institutions.
In addition, Retrospect staffers gain experience with some of the same software that professional designers use, such as InDesign CS and Photoshop CS. This gives them valuable skills to use at their transfer institution or at a future job. Students also learn about budgeting, advertising sales and design, digital photography, and scheduling skills.
Some Retrospect students who have mastered these skills have gained acceptance into prestigious design programs. Katie Northern, the 2003-04 editor was accepted into the Parsons School of Design in New York City.
The Retrospect is advised by Mr. Steve Reed, Cottey’s director of public information.
