Scholarship requirements
Please refer to each department's application requirements and procedures.

Scholarship renewal requirements
For a scholarship to be renewed for the second year, a student must be making satisfactory progress toward the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree. Students must also have met the departmental requirements for their scholarships.


The Department of Art and Art History
To apply for an art scholarship the applicant should submit a portfolio of about ten to twenty pieces which represent her best and most recent artwork. This can be in any format including digital as long as the work is clearly represented in visual form. Include a description of your projects with your work.
These might be painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, or computer-generated imagery. The portfolio should also include drawings done from observation. The preferred method of reviewing your work: photographs or CD.

Scholarship requirement
Recipients must enroll in two art classes each semester.

Deadline
The deadline for Fine Arts scholarship applications is March 1 for the following academic year. Applicant portfolios will be judged after that date.


The Department of Dance
To apply for a scholarship in dance, please submit a recorded performance of yourself dancing in at least two dance styles (ballet, modern, and/or jazz preferred) on VHS or DVD. Please send video of only yourself dancing. You may choose to show barre or other class exercises, but please also include a 2-3 minute solo dance combination/performance.

Please include information with the video specifying the choreographer of the work you perform. Please keep total video length under 10 minutes. Please also include a résumé of your dance training and experience, and a statement of your collegiate and career goals and how they relate to dance, if this information is not already listed on your scholarship application form.

Your video will be reviewed by the department of dance after the application deadline.If an applicant wishes to audition in person, please e-mail Professor Jo Byrnes to arrange a date and time prior to the videotape deadline.

Scholarship requirements
Recipients must enroll in one technique class each semester. Recipients will also be expected to audition for and if selected participate in the Cottey Repertory Dance Company. Recipients will also be expected to remain in good academic standing at Cottey College.

The deadline for Fine Arts scholarship applications is March 1 for the following academic year. Audition videotapes will be reviewed after that date.


The Department of Music
To apply for a scholarship in music, the applicant should audition in person or submit an audio tape, CD or DVD of a performance of a work or works from the standard classical literature. Students may audition in the following areas: brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba), organ, piano, strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), voice, woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon). A high-quality recording will enable the music department to best evaluate your performance.
On-campus auditions are scheduled for those applicants not applying by mail. To arrange an on-campus audition, please call the Office of Enrollment Management at 1-888-5COTTEY. Plan to audition between 9:00 a.m. and noon that day; each audition will last 30 minutes. If you would like the College to provide an accompanist, you must send copies of your music to the College three weeks before the audition. No photocopies of music will be allowed during the actual audition.

Scholarship requirements
Recipients must enroll in the harmony block of classes, private lessons, and a Cottey College music ensemble each semester.

The Department of Theatre and Speech
To apply for a scholarship in theatre and speech, the applicant should submit some aspect of her work in theater: a portfolio, set design, costume designs, an academic paper on some aspect of theater, an original play, other creative project, or a performance of a dramatic or comedic monologue of no more than five minutes.
These may be submitted on videotape, DVD, electronically, in person, or through the mail. All applicants are asked to submit a brief essay addressing the question: "What do you believe is the role of theater in society and how has theater had an impact on you, personally?" Students may be contacted for a telephone interview.

Scholarship requirements
Students must enroll in one speech or theater class each semester. Recipients will also be expected participate in on-campus productions as cast or crew members.
