Summer Schedule 2008

DAN107: Dance Appreciation
Introduces dance as a historic, creative and communicative art form. Explores elements of dance through reading, writing, discussion, observation, occasional dancing, and various themes.

PSY101: General Psychology
Introduces scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Overview of areas of neuropsychology, growth and development, perceptual processes, learning and thinking, motivation and emotion, intelligence and personality, social psychology, and mental disorders.

PSY221: Human Sexuality

Surveys topics from biological, sociological, anthropological, religious, and psychological perspectives. Examines sexual values in order to enhance students’ knowledge of sexuality and influences that affect it at personal, familial, and societal level.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I do this?
Taking an online course is relatively easy. Just download the registration form, fill it out and submit it with your course fee(s) by the deadline indicated. On the first day of class use the ANGEL information sent to you to log on to Cottey's ANGEL Web site, click on the link to your course, and follow the instructions posted.

Who teaches online?
Cottey College's online courses are taught by faculty who teach the same courses face-to-face during the academic year. Online faculty have regular contact with students through discussion forums, online faculty offices, e-mail and telephone conversations.

What about technology?
You must have access to a computer with a modem (56K or higher), high speed connection or network connection during the summer session. You must have an Internet Service Provider (ISP), an active e-mail account and Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, Netscape Navigator 7.1 or above or Mozilla 1.4 or above. You must also have word processing software that can generate .doc files. You may have to download free programs like Adobe Reader.

Are online classes easier?
No, and in fact research shows that they often take more time to complete.

How do I get textbooks?
Once you have registered and paid your course and textbook fees, the Cottey College Bookstore will e-mail instructions for obtaining texts.

How much will this cost?
Summer online courses from Cottey cost $175.00 per credit hour, or $525.00 for a three-credit hour course, plus the cost of the textbook(s) and mailing.

Registration

Print the registration form and send with your payment to:Arlene Good, Academic Records, Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, MO 64772.
If you are a current or former Cottey student or have been accepted to Cottey College, you will only need to complete the course registration form. If you are not a current or former Cottey student or have been accepted to Cottey College, you will need to complete a brief, part-time student application. (Please request this application from the Office of Enrollment Management, 417-667-8181, and submit application with your registration form.)

Withdrawals prior to the first day of the term will be charged a $50 administrative fee. Withdrawals must be received by fax or e-mail to Academic Records, 417-448-1030 or , by 5 p.m., June 27, for a refund of 75% of the course fee. THERE IS NO REFUND AFTER THESE DATES.
