Cottey College Day of Service, January 17, 2009

Below are high-resolution digital images of Cottey students participating in a national day of service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

President-elect Obama has issued a call for all Americans to serve on the King Day of Service and to make an ongoing commitment to service throughout the year.

Cottey students worked a variety of service projects on Saturday, Janury 17. Those projects included: a food drive for the local food pantry, creating and painting a mural with patients at Heartland Hospital, holding a BINGO tournament for retired people served by the local housing authority, creating an indoor carnival for area youth between the ages of 6-13, revamping the community room at the local women's shelter, joining a lunch meeting to organize the annual homeless count, cleaning out the local animal shelter, and hosting a birthday party for clients of Skills Unlimited.

Pictured below are students participating in the community room renovation at Moss House (the women's shelter), working at the animal shelter, hosting the children's carnival, and participating in the bingo tournament.
