Welcome to day one of our Vacation College adventure. The day began with registration, snacks, campus tours, dinner, dessert, visiting. (Those of you who have been here before understand the food tradition. And we at Cottey take our traditions very seriously!)
Robertson Hall was one busy place on Tuesday afternoon as our participants checked in. It seems as though everyone ended up in the lobby--at some point--to renew old acquaintances and/or make new ones. Oh yeah, there were snacks too, but we know you all went for the socializing, not the food, right? Then again, the reputation of the food at Vacation College preceded your arrival.
Returning participants already know about the food at Vacation College, and first-timers have probably been hearing the rumors, so it was a happy moment when the buffet line opened for the first official meal of the week. Best of all, you could eat all you wanted. Of course, that doesn't mean you should put ziplock bags in your pockets and stuff them full of great food for later. Not that we haven't tried, mind you.
It was Joyce's birthday on our opening day of Vacation College, and a few of her friends created a birthday cobbler masterpiece. Joyce said it was the 34th anniversary of her 39th birthday. Math has never been the photographer's strong suit, and we're still trying to figure out that whole "Train A leaves Cleveland at 8 a.m. and Train B leaves Cincinnati at 9 a.m." business. Best as we can figure Joyce is going 45 miles an hour in Columbus, Ohio, at noon. Happy birthday, Joyce, whatever the answer is.
