Lisa (Kunz) Engels ‘92 and Nicholas Engels are happy to announce their marriage on October 18, 2008, in Gainesville, Forida. They currently reside in Gainesville.

Shelley Gass Gaddis ‘99 and husband Jeremy are pleased to announce the birth of their son Lane Rowan on April 23, 2009. Lane was a whopping 10 lbs, 1 oz., and 22.5 inches long! Big sister Aria welcomed him home, and thinks he’s pretty darn cute.

Vanessa (McCarty) Ruffin ‘00 married David Ruffin in April 2007. She is a radiation therapist in Fort Worth, Texas. All the Cottey women can keep in touch with her by e-mail at vanessamccarty@hotmail.com.

Julie Sculthorpe Lewis ‘01 and her husband Nathan

Julie Sculthorpe ‘01 married Nathan Lewis on January 24 with Jennifer McDuff ‘01, as one of the bridesmaids. A reception at Jupiter Beach Resort followed the ceremony. Julie graduated from Port St. Lucie High School, from Cottey College, and from the University of Florida in 2003. She is working toward her master’s in public administration at Morehead State University. She is employed by IMG in Lexington as a project coordinator. Following a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, the couple plan to reside in Morehead and Lexington.

Elliot Joseph Fortenberry

Courtney Brown Fortenberry ‘06 and husband Justyn are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, a son, Elliot Joseph. Elliot was born on April 30, 2009, weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz., and was 21 1/2 inches long. Elliot was welcomed home by the Fortenberry family dog Lilly and has already had two Cottey “aunties,” Kayla Wardrup ‘07 and Katy Reif ‘06, come to visit him.

Olya Nikulina Blase ‘06 and husband Drew

Olya Nikulina ‘06 married Drew Blase on May 16, 2009, in Independence, Missouri. Olya reported, “I have some wonderful news to share with all of you! Drew and I got married! It was a small wedding and we did not have much time beforehand to let many people know. We also had to wait some time afterwards to share this happy news; we apologize. We are both very happy that we battled through the Air Force limitations and finally can be together!”
