Cottey Community Partner Fair Aug. 19

Cottey College, together with the City of Nevada and the Nevada/Vernon County Chamber of Commerce, will host the 2017 Community Dinner and Partner Fair, Saturday, August 19, 6-8 p.m., at the Franklin P. Norman Community Center.

Local businesses, civic organizations, and churches are invited to register for the event. Designed to showcase the community to incoming Cottey College students and their families, the theme for this year’s event is “Totally Awesome Nevada.”

Funded by a grant through Missouri Campus Compact, the Community Partner Fair allows students to become familiar with area businesses, civic organizations, and churches. Additionally, the event provides the opportunity to recruit Cottey College students for volunteer opportunities, service learning projects, local internships, and undergraduate research.

Exhibitors are encouraged to showcase their products and services through displays, promotional materials, samples, giveaways and demonstrations. A popular section of the Community Partner Fair is “A Taste of Nevada,” where local restaurants provide food samples for the students and their families.

Participation in the fair is free to any business, church, or civic organization in Vernon County. Student athletes from Cottey College will be available to assist exhibitors with their set-up on the day of the event.
